A year ago, I told you: the smart buildings industry deserves a different conference. Six weeks ago, I told you: thank you for showing up to the first NexusCon the way you did—with heart and passion and good vibes.
Today, I’m telling you: LET’S DO IT AGAIN!

Real talk: there were already too many “technology for real estate” conferences. You could have called us crazy for starting a new one. Maybe you did. Now, after adding NexusCon to the conference calendar, it feels crazy we almost didn’t do it.
NexusCon was born with a new identity—a different approach to conferences than our industry has seen before. Deep, non-sponsored content mixed with passionate small-group discussions. A community-first vibe designed to welcome newcomers and catalyze change. New formats designed to knock down silos between buyers and vendors in a non-salesy way.
360 people, 62 building owner organizations, 45 technology vendors, and 53 service provider organizations showed up in Denver to nerd out on smart building technology with us. We consumed 80 gallons of coffee and far too much Mango Spice electrolyte powder. And there was a disco ball! 🪩
When the electrolyte dust settled and the ball dropped, 100% of attendees surveyed told us they plan to return next year. Yes, really. NexusCon also earned the top review score (9.0 out of 10) on Thesis Driven’s survey of over a dozen competing conferences. No other show received higher than an 8.1.
While we’ll make some tweaks and improvements, we’ll double-down on NexusCon’s core identity in 2025. We’ll get even better at creating deep content with the experts who are changing the industry. We’ll grow the community and deepen the bonds between us. We’ll keep knocking down silos and catalyzing change with our conversations.
We’ll reconvene at the same venue as 2024, the Westin Westminster. It provides just enough space to keep it intimate and gives attendees access to the beautiful outdoors. Speaking of the mountains, we’ll do group hikes again so you can enjoy them and have some unstructured networking time in nature.

We learned a ton in our first go-round and we’ll make several changes to improve the experience and clean up the rough edges.
We’ll look to grow the gathering a bit bigger while maintaining the intimacy. We’ll attract a more diverse group of building owners, spreading across less represented asset classes, and contractors.
Finally, we’ll make several changes to give attendees more of the spice. Attendees told us they want to disagree, debate, and challenge each other. We saw the sparks begin to fly in 2024 and we’ll let the flames ignite (while maintaining respect and friendship) in 2025.
