In early 2024, Atrius joined Nexus Labs on the panel for the Buyer’s Guide to Energy Management, ESG Reporting, and Carbon Accounting, where they showcased their application layer solutions. Today, we sat down with Simran Kalir, Director of Marketing at Atrius, to find out what they’ve accomplished and where they’re heading.
From corporate campuses to airports to academic institutions: all businesses can benefit from solutions that make their spaces smarter, safer, and greener. Atrius cloud applications focus on extracting value from building data faster and easier. Our industry-leading products in sustainability reporting, energy management, indoor wayfinding, and real-time asset tracking enable professionals to manage entire portfolios as easily as they could manage one building.
We have over 400 active organizations using our carbon management solution.

Acuity Brands Intelligent Spaces Group (ISG), which includes Atrius and Distech Controls, begins with measurement and reporting through Atrius Sustainability. Finally, the ECLYPSE line of controls and sensors allows for updates down to the device layer by the same Intelligent Spaces Group for a holistic sustainability solution.
We work with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, United Airlines, Amy’s Kitchen, Weber State University, Heathrow Airport, Sabey Data Centers, Washington & Lee University, Denver Airport, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Over the last 12 months, we have renewed over 80% of our annual contract value. Based on the labor savings of two full-time sustainability professionals, our solution shows an ROI of about six months.
Atrius Carbon Management tools have received an impressive amount of industry awards, including
The number of customer sites on our platform has grown by approximately 36% within the past fiscal year.
Our Intelligent Spaces Group sales team, responsible for the Atrius Sustainability product sales, comprises over 100 sellers. We have expanded and are continuing to expand our global coverage through our internal ISG sales team and our formal partnerships (C&W, CBRE, B&M, etc).
In October 2023, we announced a free carbon accounting platform called Atrius Sustainability Starter. Atrius Sustainability Starter is a perfect starting place for small and medium-sized businesses that want to begin with carbon accounting or measure their business emissions without any initial financial investment.
Starter is the first platform of its kind to be released on the market, reducing the costs typically associated with carbon reporting and ultimately making sustainability a more accessible pursuit for all organizations. There’s never a need to upgrade to the paid Enterprise version unless users want access to increased reporting functionalities.
Sustainability reporting software, like Atrius Sustainability Starter, allows for carbon disclosure and reporting to organizations like CDP, GRESB, GRI, TCFD, and SASB. Beyond mandatory disclosures, starting a sustainability reporting journey can help companies differentiate themselves from competitors, increase brand reputation, increase operational efficiency, and improve investor relations and opportunities.
We’ve released some updates to our Enterprise carbon accounting offering, Atrius Sustainability: Tasks, Estimated Points, and USEEIO Models.
Tasks is a new application that allows a user to create and manage tasks related to ESG disclosures, energy and sustainability initiatives, and other data collection and measurement.
Estimated Points will enable users to generate an annual energy consumption value for a building based on the building’s location and other factors, helping to fill data gaps in portfolios if buildings are leased or it’s difficult to collect precise data.
Lastly, Atrius Sustainability now offers versions of the US Environmentally-Extended Input-Output (USEEIO) Models, the Supply Chain Greenhouse Gas Emission Factors for US Industries and Commodities, to complement its other target emissions factor models.
These updates are making it easier for building owners and sustainability professionals to gather all the necessary information they need from buildings, when they need it, wherever they are. These continued updates make it easier than ever to stay on top of data collection, benchmarking and reporting to stakeholders on a regular basis.
Within the Tasks App, we’re improving data collection tasks for non-automated data, like data requests to internal and external stakeholders.
We are improving our library of annual emissions factors to include IEA 2023, eGRID 2024, Australia 2024, EPA 2024, UK DERFA 2024, and NZ 2024.
We’re developing an Automated Energy Insights feature, which will use AI / Machine Learning to drive insights based on best practices, energy use, and building schedules to make informed reduction decisions.
We’re adding support for carbon credit purchasing and features to help visualize the effects of carbon credits on your emissions portfolio.
Lastly, we’re building two new API integrations and plan to generally build 4-6 new API integrations a year.
We’ll do our best to keep our community posted with interesting business updates on companies accelerating the industry, like Atrius. If you’re a buyer wondering what this technology can do for you, we recommend checking out our Buyer’s Guide to Energy Management, ESG Reporting, and Carbon Accounting to continue your discovery process.
