Welcome to our NexusCon 2024 event recordings! These recordings and slides are available for Nexus Pro Members only.
The industry needed a different type of conference, so we built it. NexusCon 2024 was full of sponsor-free content, real-world case studies, and most importantly, our community.
We heard from 109 speakers across 24 different sessions over a span of 3 days. Although nothing beats the in-person real-time learnings from NexusCon, we are excited to release the NexusCon session recordings to our Nexus Pro Community. We have over 40 hours of hot takes, knowledge bombs, collaborations, and disagreements among smart buildings industry experts to share with you.
Smart building innovation is increasingly driven by the seamless integration of diverse technologies and data models. This session will explore how open communication protocols, unified data models, independent data layers, and ontology alignment can break down silos and enable smarter, more responsive systems.
This session will begin with a joint discussion from Google and OTI, focusing on how the Unified Data Model for IoT (UDMI) and Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) can serve as a standardized framework and an efficient data transmission method, respectively, to enhance the interoperability of disparate systems.
Next, we’ll hear from Brainbox AI on the data layer foundation required for organizations to enable Advanced Supervisory Control (ASC) technologies. They’ll include the lessons learned from deploying cloud to cloud via an API to OEM’s data layers and a guide for how other operators of large portfolios can undertake this task themselves. Ace IoT Solutions will join in on the presentation to provide a data layer perspective.
Finally, we’ll dive straight into a panel discussion on the latest advancements in ontology efforts aimed at enhancing interoperability in smart building technology, with a focus on Project Haystack, Brick Schema, and Google’s DBO. Experts will skip over how standardized ontologies can streamline data integration, improve communication between diverse building systems, and support more efficient and sustainable building management. Instead, they’ll focus on finding points of disagreement between disparate efforts and building consensus on our next steps as an industry.
